CMHC recieves funding to open an embedded primary care clinic for SMI consumers
December 04, 2009
CMHC received a three year, $300,000 Grant from the Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati to fund a Primary Care Clinic for the Seriously Mentally Ill clients.
Clients with serious Mental Illness have been found to die 25 years earlier than the general population from primary health complications. Many people are unable to find or keep a provider in this area that will see them and take their insurance. Our hope is to provide on-site care while the client is already at the facility receiving other services. This will provide convenience and continuity of care. The clinic will be open in March operating 2-3 days a week initially for clients with medicare/Medicaid and offered to clients with serious mental illness. The clinic will be overseen by Jayme Kelly, APN.
